Absentee and Early Voting

Voting by Mail Absentee Ballot (Envelope Voting)

You can vote early by using an absentee ballot instead of voting in person or at your polling place on Election Day.

To request an absentee ballot by mail, fill out an online absentee ballot application.

Ballots for the March 3, Presidential Primary will be sent starting January 17, 2020.

To request an application in an alternative format such as Braille, please call 1-877-600-8683

Please submit your application no later than 2:00 p.m. on the Friday before Election Day, to ensure adequate time for the ballot to reach you via U.S. mail and for you to return it. When you receive the ballot, complete it and mail it to:

Ramsey County Elections
PO Box 64098
St. Paul, MN 55164-0098

If you have questions about a turnaround time regarding receipt of a ballot once you’ve submitted your application, please call Ramsey County Elections at 651-266-2171.

Early Voting (Direct Ballot Voting) - February 25 thru March 2

Early voting is not conducted at City Hall, nor is early voting conducted at your assigned polling place.

There are nine (9) locations in Ramsey County that are offering Early Voting.  Please visit Ramsey County Elections’ Early Voting for a complete list of locations and hours.

During the early voting period, voters place their ballots directly in the ballot machine. However, please keep in mind that you must still complete an Application before obtaining the ballot. The only way to avoid the need to complete a ballot application form is to go and vote at your polling place on Election Day.

Election Day - March 3

You must vote on Election Day at your local Precinct.  Polls are open from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm.
