Arden Hills’ residents may be aware that traffic signals and other signage have been altered at the intersection of County Road E2 and the 35W bridge on both the Arden Hills and New Brighton sides of the bridge. The temporary traffic signals at that location were originally installed to help mitigate detour traffic during the MnDOT I-35W MnPass project construction. Ramsey County will be conducting a traffic study to assess the intersection’s traffic patterns next year once the traffic has settled into a new pattern now that the MnDOT MnPass project is nearly complete. For now, the County does not have any plans to install permanent signals at these locations; however, if the results of the study indicate a strongly warranted situation, they will look to include it in their Transportation Improvement Plan. At this time, per Ramsey County, the newly installed stop signs should be considered a permanent change.
The City of Arden Hills has communicated its concerns regarding traffic safety at this location to Ramsey County, and residents may contact Ramsey County Public Works Department at 651-266-7100.
