Thinking of running for a City Council seat in the 2026 General election? The City contracts with Ramsey County Elections to administer the election process. The City will have paper copies of candidate packets available this summer (more information will be available once provided by Ramsey County Elections).
You can file your Affidavit of Candidacy at City Hall or at the Ramsey County Elections Office located at 90 Plato Blvd W in St. Paul. The fee to file is $2.00.
The candidate filing period begins on Tuesday, July 14 and ends on Tuesday, July 28. The deadline to withdraw is Thursday, July 30.
In 2026, the City will have the following seats on the ballot:
- Mayor (4-year seat, term 2027-2030)
- Councilmember (4-year seat, term 2027-2030)
- Councilmember (4-year seat, term 2027-2030)
